On May Fernando Amorsolo, declared the first National Artist in Painting in 1972 and the "Grand Old Man of Philippine Art", was born in Paco, Manila.

Juan Luna (1857–1899)
Probably the most famous Filipino artist in history due to his political activism and involvement in the revolution in 1898, Juan Luna’s most famous painting is the Spolarium. I’ve personally seen it, I was 14 years old and it was indeed majestic, spectacular and very dramatic. His art style is normally symbolismwith elements of romanticism.

Anita Magsaysay-Ho is known for her depictions of Filipina women at work. This 1979 oil painting, “Fish Harvest at Dawn,” was sold at a record price in an auction on June 13 at LeĆ³n Gallery in Legazpi Village, Makati.

The painter Fernando Amorsolo (1892-1972) was a dominant figure in the visual arts of the Philippines during the decades the before the Second World War and into the post-war period.

The Bonifacio Mural (1964) painted by Carlos “Botong” V. Francisco, Philippine National Artist for Visual Arts. The mural shows Andres Bonifacio leading the start of the Philippine revolution against Spain in 1896, the Cry of Balintowak or Cry of Pugad Lawin.
